Does the FORTH Innovation Method actually work?

Most innovation claims rest on enthusiasm. FORTH rests on independent research.

Yes. Independent research by Prof. Dr Herman van den Bosch of the Open Universiteit found that 74% of FORTH business cases progressed to development and 68% reached the market, against benchmarks of 57% and 37.5%. Participants rated the process 8.1 out of 10.

Why the difference matters

The fuzzy front end of innovation is where most new business ideas quietly die. The value of FORTH is not that it produces more ideas, it is that a far larger share of what it produces actually survives: through development and into the market. A method that nearly doubles the market-entry rate against the benchmark is not adding creativity to the process, it is adding effectiveness.

Where the effectiveness comes from

FORTH builds internal buy-in from the start and tests concepts with real customers before they reach a board. By the time a business case is presented, it has already been improved with customer input and it is carried by the people who will deliver it. That is why FORTH cases progress rather than stall.
